HBO "Asian Heritage Month Promo" 2011
After the critical and commercial success of 2010's "East of Main Street: Asians Aloud," the kind folks at HBO brought me back in to direct another installment and also to create a short on-air promo that would be the prefix before feature length films playing during the month of May.
Because we needed to hit an air date that was approaching faster than our shoot schedule, I was given the task to promote a show that had yet to be shot. Our celebrity talent hadn't even been 100% secured yet, and things were in constant flux. In order to keep things enticing and appropriate for the show that we were planning on creating in the near future (no matter what changes in celebrity lineup might occur), I came up with this solution. With some written copy for the typography and voiceover, my team and I created this animated text treatment that ultimately worked really well for the show.
